Crime e castigo: as civilizadas práticas jurídicas de uma idade moderna
Resumo: A B S T R A C TThis article reviews the penal system´s methods in a transitioning society not as modern as subsequently was classified. The Modern Age – in spite of all its cultural transformations, new forms of political, economic and social relations – was characterised by the use of extremely violent punitive methods. Crime and punishment were both sides of the same coin, united by atrocity.
