Bastidores: um outro olhar sobre a imigração no Rio de Janeiro

Resumo: This article reviews the undisclosed record of immigration in the city of Rio de Janeiro, examining primarily the expulsion procedures. Taking into account an analysis of poverty and the different forms of dissension demonstrated by undesirable individuals, it examines the process of banishment in the broad context of the discipline enforcement in the urban space during the First Republic.
