Imigração alemã e construção do estado nacional brasileiro: Rio Grande do Sul, século XIX

Resumo: The article aims to show how German immigration to Rio Grande do Sul, started with the settlement of São Leopoldo colony in 1824, is related to the consolidation of the Brazilian independence and national state construction. Therefore the whitening of Brazilian society and the constitution of the citizenship are emphasized.
